Get Quality Medical Care from Wherever You Are

Technology has done a substantial amount in promoting new forms of smooth and convenient healthcare delivery. We understand that an incident can occur at any time, and it may not be practical to travel to one of our clinics, especially if doing so would be detrimental to your or your loved one’s health. Our Houston telemedicine services at Brazos Urgent Care allow you to speak with our healthcare professionals via your smartphone or laptop. When you need prompt, remote assistance, this cutting-edge option allows you to get the comprehensive care you need quickly and easily.

How Does Telemedicine Work?

Telemedicine utilizes digital technology to bridge the gap between you and our healthcare providers. Specifically, our system uses a combination of video conferencing, secure messaging platforms, interactive tools, and other remote communication techniques to facilitate medical services. We use these tools to review and share your medical records, test results, and other pertinent data electronically, creating a more efficient way for our team to deliver certain types of care.

It is important to understand that, while conducted remotely, telemedicine is in no way “less than” an in-person visit. Our Houston telemedicine services use the same protocols as our providers would in an in-person setting to diagnose and treat ailments.

During a telehealth session, you will first typically explain the medical problem you are experiencing, just as you would in one of our clinics. One of our doctors or providers will then typically ask questions about your symptoms, medical history, and any applicable test results before giving advice or making a formal diagnosis. Depending on your specific circumstances, one of our providers may be able to prescribe medications or order lab tests after discussing your situation remotely.

What Are the Benefits of Telemedicine?

Telemedicine can in some instances reduce the total cost of medical care by reducing the expenses associated with travel to and from our clinics. While some in-person appointments may be necessary, telemedicine can eliminate some visits while accelerating and simplifying the process of getting care. Plus, using secure digital records allows our providers to review your comprehensive health history more efficiently.

Some other key benefits of telemedicine include:

  • Improved access to medical care if you are located a significant distance from our locations
  • More efficient use of your time by eliminating unnecessary in-person visits
  • Expanded care options if you have mobility issues or health concerns that make traveling to our clinics challenging
  • Reassurance that care is available even if you cannot make it to one of our clinics

What Types of Care Do You Offer Through Telemedicine?

Telemedicine can be used to provide a wide range of healthcare services. If you are suffering a health issue and need advice, a telemedicine appointment may be a great place to start.

If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, a telemedicine appoint with one of our providers may be able to get you on the right track:

  • Allergic reaction
  • Asthma
  • Back pain
  • Cough
  • Dental pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Ear or sinus pain
  • Eye irritation or infection
  • Fever
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Fractures
  • Genital discomfort or pain
  • Nausea
  • Rash
  • Sore throat
  • Sprains or strains
  • Vomiting

In any of these instances, we will ask questions and review your medical records to see if we can arrive at a diagnosis remotely. If we believe we can accurately determine what is happening or can ascertain what steps to take next, we can prescribe the appropriate medication or schedule any necessary lab tests. We can also typically provide general advice if you are dealing with an ongoing health issue or concern.

Certain types of care cannot be provided through telemedicine due to the reality that they require in-person examinations or treatments. These include physical examinations that require manual manipulation of body parts (including immigration physicals), diagnostic tests that involve the use of imaging technology or specialized equipment, and the administering of vaccinations or lab tests. Additionally, in some scenarios, we may simply not be able to confidently diagnose the issue without an in-person visit and a more comprehensive physical examination.
